Getting to The Classic Motorbike Show 2017 is simple!
The NEC is situated right in the middle of England. It’s extremely easy to get to either by road, rail or air being at the hub of the UK motorway network, having its own railway station (Birmingham International) and with Birmingham Airport right next door.
There are many ways to get to the NEC, please see various options below:
The NEC (National Exhibition Centre) is easily accessible by from both the M6 and M42, which in turn can be easily accessed from the M1, M5, M40 or M69. Leave the M6 at junction 4 (A446 - there is NO NEED to go on the M42 to get to the NEC if you're travelling up or down to the show on the M6 - signs will suggest you do this, but you can happily ignore them and just get off the M6 at J4) ), or leave the M42 at junction 6 and follow the signs.
For Sat Nav
The NEC is a very big site and has just one postcode but, instead of just giving you this (as there are different ways to enter site and your Sat Nav may not give you the best info – you know what they’re like!) here are a couple of other (hopefully) useful postcodes and co-ordinates for you to use. These should help you get to the right entrance from your direction of travel, rather than taking you to the South entrance if you’re coming from the North and vice-versa.
If you are approaching from the NORTH (e.g M6 - use Junction 4 - there's no need to go onto the M42 as the signs will suggest - just carry on down the M6 to the next exit (J4)) you could use the postcode of the Holiday Inn Express NEC. This is located just on the North Entrance roundabout, so once you’re on that roundabout, you’re here:
NEC North Entrance Roundabout – Holiday Inn Express: B40 1QA
This would also be the best postcode to use for anyone approaching from the North via non-motorway routes. Obviously, once you’re close, switch the Sat Nav off unless you actually want the hotel!
Alternatively, for the more technically minded - the approximate co-ordinates for the North Entrance to site are: 52.462494, -1.712837 or +52° 27' 44.98", -1° 42' 46.21"
Note: If you’re on the M6 the signs (for some reason) want you to go onto the M42 for The NEC. You can do this and exit at J6 of the M42, but there is absolutely no need to! If you’re on the M6 then just use Junction 4 (A446).
If you’re travelling via the M42 (use Junction 6), or via the A45, then the postcode that should help get you into the site via the South Entrance would be that of the Crowne Plaza Hotel which is inside the NEC site, on the South side. Obviously, once you are within the NEC site then switch off your Sat Nav (unless you’re actually staying at the Hotel) and you’ll be directed to a car park by the traffic guys.
NEC South Entrance (Crowne Plaza Hotel): B40 1PS
This would also be the best postcode to use for anyone approaching from the South via non-motorway routes
Alternatively, for the more technically minded - the approximate co-ordinates for the South Entrance to site are: 52.445600, -1.711550 or +52° 26' 44.16", -1° 42' 41.58"
Bear in mind that the NEC will charge each car £12.00 to park (click here to see the NEC's parking information), so it’s a good idea to share cars with friends to keep costs down. Motorcycles park free.
Just so you are aware, this is a charge levied by the venue, not by the show.
There are shuttle buses running from the NEC car parks to the halls.
You may find that parking in Birmingham International Station is cheaper (and it’s just a short undercover walk to the halls from here – no more than from NEC Car Parks). Postcode for Birmingham International Station is B40 1PA
Birmingham International Station is IN the NEC complex and is literally just a few minutes undercover walk to/from the show. If your line doesn’t stop directly at Birmingham International Station then simply change at Birmingham New Street Station onto one of the regular services going through Birmingham International. For train times/fares etc visit www.thetrainline.com If you are planning to travel by train to the Classic Motor Show, book with Virgin Trains and receive a 25% discount! Simply book your journey to the NEC using this link: www.virgintrains.co.uk/nec/ and the 25% discount will be automatically applied to your booking!
Birmingham International Airport is right next door and there is a monorail link that means it takes only about 10-15 minutes from walking through arrivals in the Airport to walking into the show itself. Again, the transfer from Airport to show is completely undercover. Flybe, Ryanair and several other budget operators fly in and out of Birmingham International Airport (BHX) along with many other International Airlines. For visitors travelling from further away, there are over 20 international airlines serving BHX. Visit Birmingham International Airport: www.birminghamairport.co.uk

VISITOR INFORMATION FOR ASSISTED ACCESS
Booking tickets for assisted access: If you have a disability that restricts your ability to attend the show on your own to the extent where a helper is needed, then a carer is admitted free. If you book over the telephone on the ticket hotline then you can book both the assisted access visitor's ticket (at standard ticket price) and also your free carer's ticket and opt to have them posted out or emailed and print at home. Simply tell the ticket agent that you wish to book an assisted access and carer ticket(s) and then you will need to bring proof of your disability with you to the show. If you choose to book online, there is no option to book a carer's ticket at the same time as this system would not work online. In this instance, if you book your disabled ticket (as per standard ticket price) then you can collect a free admission ticket for your carer when you arrive at the NEC on the door.
Assistance at the NEC:
If you have any queries or need assistance during your visit, please contact any member of NEC staff who will be happy to help. Male and female wheelchair accessible toilets are provided throughout the venue.
Disabled parking bays for blue badge holders are available. These are allocated upon arrival by NEC traffic staff. The NEC require assisted access visitors to pay the standard charge of £12.00 to park. If you have issues with this and wish to complain please speak directly to the venue via www.thenec.co.uk as this policy is nothing whatsoever to do with the Classic Motorbike Show or any other NEC-based Clarion Events-organised show.
A limited number of manual wheelchairs are available for hire free of charge to registered disabled and at a cost of £5.00 per day for visitors who are not registered disabled, on a first come first served basis. Electric scooters can be hired at a cost of £15 per day. Please telephone Bartams on 01353 778756 to book in advance. Lines are open 9.00-18.00 Monday - Sunday.
